I am Divya Sreeraj. I have done my Fashion Technology from RVTI Bangalore. I am interested in hand embroidery and painting. I am sharing the things which I know to you people.

Chikankari Work
Chikankari work is originated in Lucknow. Chikankari is a delicate and artfully done hand embroidery on different types of of textile fabric like muslin, silk, chiffon, organza, net etc. White thread is embroidered on cool, pastel shades of light muslin and cotton garments.Recently chikan embroidery is also done with coloured and silk threads in different colours to meet the recent fashion trends and keep chikankari trendy with fashion.
Chikan work is done from the wrong side of the fabric and the design is rendered in the herringbone style. The shadow of the thread is seen through the cloth on the right side.
Phulkari Work
Phulkarian embroidery originated from the Punjab. The main characteristics of Phulkari embroidery are use
of darn stitch on the wrong side of cotton cloth with coloured silken thread. It is alsp known
as“Gulkari” a very intricate needle work, along with bright colouredthreads

Kashmiri Work
Kashmiri embroidery(also Kashida), is as colorful and as beautiful as Kashmir itself. Embroiderers often draw inspiration from nature. Birds, blossoms and flowers, creepers, chinar leaves, ghobi, mangoes, lotus, and trees are the most common themes. The entire pattern is uses one or two embroidery stitches.Kashmiri stitch and which may comprise the chain stitch, the satin stitch, the slanted darn stitch, the stem stitch, and the herringbone stich.Chain stitch will look good in this. I have done Kashmiri work using Chain stitch.
Fabric
Fabric used for doing kashmiri embroidery are silk, wool, cotton.
Thread
Wool and silk.
Method
First you need to trace a sketch for this.
Then you need to fill the sketch with chain stitch. Use only
one stitch for this.

Before starting with this work let me tell you the history of this work. This work is originated in Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the easy stitch which you can learn. I have tried this in 2 saress.
The thread used for this stitch is called Cone thread.
You can use all kind of fabric for this.
1 You need to trace one pattern for this.
Then follow the images shown below.
I have done work on a saree.
